Belgrade, The Capital of Serbia and my hometown,is one of the oldest cities in Europe. I really love Belgrade. There are many reasons for it, but there is one thing making Belgrade different.Belgrade simply accepts everyone who comes, that's something I have never had, even though I visited many places. Just come and do enjoy Belgrade's unique charm and hospitality.Belgrade is located in the south-east of Europe, in the Balkan Peninsula,at the confluence of the Sava and the Danube rivers.Thank you for visiting this gallery. All your comments are very welcome.

Nina,Norway31-Jul-2012 12:32One of the most beautiful countries in the world, with some of the most beautiful people, totally a fan,and hopefully get to marry a Serb in the future:).So tired of reading about silly peoples comments about the last war and all that crap,Serbia has been treated with unjustice always, and anyone with a deeper understanding of culture and politics know the truth, that Serbians was made the bad guys, the truth.and how media always twist all things might forever be untold. I love these photos, wonderful,my dream is to see Belgrade, and the countryside, all the beautiful landscapes, taste the food and listen to the beautiful Serbian language.I am such a devoted fan:). Tamara27-May-2012 11:22Dragi Vlado,Bravo!

Vesti su i dalje prepune zlocina, agresije i nasih pogresnih poteza. Sada i izbora. Moj e-mail: wdrobash2249@gmail.comVeliko ti hvala.Vladimir Drobashevsky.

Justin Smith30-May-2009 16:57Zdravo! Vlado, Tvoj SLIKE-svakacast! Pazi, I know just enough Serbian language to be dangerous.I just returned from Beograd last week from visiting my family for almost one month. I am 'amerikanac' and my wife is from Serbia. We live in San Diego, California For the past 6 years we have visited her family, kumovi, friends, etc. In Beograd and various places around Serbia.

I absolutely love Beograd!! It is old, a little dusty, chaotic, calm, sophisticated, surprising and has a 'soul' of its own-all at once. Your photos depict many of the wonderful sites and places I have been fortunate to personally visit the past several years. You have really captured wonderful images of the City.

I have always have felt very welcome, even though people laugh at my attempts at conversing in Serbian! For the first time, last month, I visited Avala just outside of Beograd. What peaceful nature and such a beautiful panoramic view from all directions. I found your web site by accident.

Thanks for sharing. Hvala ti puno! Boban02-May-2008 02:44Bravo bata Vlado,Sjajne su Ti slike. Ja sam rodjen u Beogradu 1969.

Poslednjih deset godina zivim na Floridi. I dolazimo u Beograd cesto.

Silvana24-Mar-2008 06:11Hi VladoThank you for a great 'walk down the memory lane'. Your pictures of Beograd are captivating.I grew up in Beograd, left in 1975 and have not been back since 1982. Thank you for satisfying my curiosity and providing me with a nostalgia overload. You have captured Beograd as a currently vibrant but a historic European city. All of that much different from the Pacific shores of the sunny Sydney, Australia where I now live.I'll keep coming back to Beograd at, least to your galery if not in person.

To, medjutim imas u svim vecim gradovima.

Sanjam nju i dalje.

Kad nego odraste u tom gradu, posle kad se osvrne na detinjstvo, moze slobodno reci: 'I am so broud to be Serbian and from beautiful Belgrade!'

Guest01-Aug-2007 23:19Vlado, sorry for not leaving my name and the place.

I just forgot completely and unintentionally.I plan to come again to Serbia someday to shoot more photos as the photography is my passion. Your photos are fabulous!I already know about this Deaf organization, I am talking about the daily life that many Deafs in Serbia are struggling and facing many obstacles imposed by the 'hearing' people society. Comparing here where I live, I can see my doctors who are Deaf and the communication is heavenly easy in sign language, or go to Veterinarian who is also Deaf.

Same thing with the Deaf Dentist. Here, we have many Deafs who are highly college educated in master degrees, or even in PhD degrees. Whenever I visit Serbia and meet Deafs, it still sadden me to see how they are set in the struggling life and fighting for a better own life. The better chances for them are being passed by the “hearing people” with attitude and selfishness from opening mind to think of the Deafs’ potential to do better in their own life paths. So the message for those who are there in Serbia, get up and open up the gates of opportunity for the Deafs without discrimination and rejection. Maybe you start to photograph Deaf people, get know Deaf’s culture, and expose them to the “hearing people” in your country as a way to educate the “hearing” people.

Treat them as first class as you would like to be treated by others. Because, I have already firsthand experienced myself with humility being treated as second class which became so intolerable!Danijela, USA“We are just humans with many potentials waiting to be unleashed, being Deaf is just only a loss of hearing, so what. However, intelligence is not lost and intact.Being Deaf is also a gift for seeing richer life than “hearing” people who would overlook.”I already know about this Deaf organization, I am talking about the daily life that many Deafs in Serbia are greatly struggling and facing many obstacles imposed by the 'hearing' people society.

Guest01-Aug-2007 00:44Indeed yet, it is beautiful. But the problem is, they are not developed the better system to serve Deaf people a fair access to job, education, interperter for the Deaf, etc, etc. Thus is it no for all people with who are Deaf.

I know some one Deaf who work in printer was not given a deserved vacation in 3-4 years! Some were not given a deserved promotion due to the 'hearings' own doubt toward the Deaf people!

That's the reason, I couldn't stay there, but left for a good reason. I've seen so much discrimination and so much looking down to Deaf people as if they are less intelligent to the point that I got so fed up and so frustrated.Again, it is not for all people.

Thank you all people.Frankly speaking I have no enough of time to answer to all of you, nevertheless, I am so happy to read all of your messages, and to make any improvement, regarding better understanding of Belgrade and spirit of Belgrade's people.

Bane,Dorcol. Gisella Karna09-Jul-2007 03:33Hey, how are you! I have a question for you.

If you know somebody overthere, please let me know. My email address is gissseijas@hotmail.comMuchas gracias.

Puno hvala!!!!!!! Jejeje ucim srpski too!

Ono sto Bgd cini najprivlacnijim gradom u svetu su: female specimens, smek, opustena atmosfera, gluvarenje, coskarenje i blejanje - u tome smo brate nenadjebivi.A sad, nazad na popravni!! Maki, Deutschland07-Apr-2007 17:28'Belgrade is finally white, shining on this July sun! He´d like to be worthythe nostalgia of thosewho in this very momentare thinking of him.'

Nedavno sam u jednom nemackom casopisu pronasla prelep clanak ´trend putovanje´ uz ono naj iteresatnije o njemu.skakala sam od srece, pomislih konacno nesto lepo o nama i to jos o njemu, gradu otvorenog srca.Uramila sam stranicu.

Pozdrav svima. Zoran28-Mar-2007 05:11For the second day I am coming to work to do almost nothing but look at the pfotographs and read the comments. Vlado, mate, if I get fired it's your fault.I enjoyed going through the pictures yesterday, but I wasn't that emotional, maybe because I've just returned from a four-week holiday in Belgrade. But the comments. How many souls you have touched, how many tears have been shed, how many incredible life stories behind those few sentences. Your site is not only about beautiful pictures of the city we love, it has become much more about people who were born or lived for a while in Belgrade, then moved on with their lives (as I did 11 years ago).

And about how they feel about those times and about themselves. And also about those who came on a short visit, as well as those who have never been in Belgrade, but still have something nice to say. And, of course, about those who leave there.I'll keep coming back. To Belgrade and your site. Now I am sending this address to everyone I know.Zoran - Sydney - Australia.

Ja sam sedmomesecni kanadski imigrant u trenutnoj borbi s nostalgijom. Beograd nisam videla nekih sedam meseci, pa su me tvoje fotografije totalno dokusurile. Sve najbolje!!!

Aleks03-Jan-2007 05:55Beautiful pictures. I am excited to be coming to Beograd in just 8 days!!!

I will be there for the Serbian new year celebration (for those who don't know, out of tradition we celebrate the julian calendar new year and christmas). I have not been to Srbija in 6 years, and extensively in Beograd for 11 years, and these pictures remind me of why I have that city in my heart. I was born in Krusevac, but Beograd is where I hope to buy a condo someday.

I live in Chicago, and I think it is at the top of the greatest cities, but Beograd has a soul and atmosphere rivaled by none. I feel lucky to be connected to both cities.Hvala Vlado! Mira22-Dec-2006 13:14Postovani gospodine Vlado,Izuzetno dobre fotografije. Svaka cast, majstore.

Hvala.Pozdrav, Mira. Guest02-Dec-2006 11:58Belgrade is.

BelgradeA City of Human ProportionThere are few things in Belgrade that I have not already seen elsewhere. Perhaps only three: its rivers, its sky and its people. It is out of those three ancient elements that the unique spirit of Belgrade was born.Clouds scud across the sky above the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers, combining mists with eastern and western winds - that dramatic Belgrade sky which resembles a great celestial battleground.

The spiritual mood of its inhabitants is projected across it at any moment of the day.The people who grew up on a stone hill beneath such an arousing expanse cannot be broad of gesture, stormy of temperament and changable in their mood. These people, who stand at this crossroads of winds, with the many traces of previous settlements and past civilisations, those people are capable of building their city anew, a city of human proportion. It is a town that will not unsettle the hearts of its visitors with its enormity, but it will bind those selfsame visitors to it forever with a hundred invisible threads.Aerial pictures of Belgrade show - as clear as on the palm of your hand, its past, present and future. Belgrade's palm has callouses and scars; it offers a firm, friendly handshake, extending the strength of a clenched first, yet the softness of a caress. The city will never attract the inquisitive collector of beauty, but it will affect a totally different influence; it will incite the almost physical pain of longing in those who have spent sometime on its streets just as a photograph of a long lost love can inflict mortal pain.

It will bewitch us with its charm, but will never reveal the secret of that strange love, a love that is beyond comprehension.by Momo Kapor. Guest14-Jul-2006 14:08Zdravo,Sada sam pogledala i slike su zaista fantasticne. Zivim u Cikagu. Alex Belgrade26-May-2006 10:43Everyone,Belgrade is now once again, after 88 years, the capital of the sovereign and independent, fully capacitated state of Serbia, and not Yugoslavia or the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro.

I wish to congratulate all citizens of Serbia and all Belgraders on our restored independence. I wish the people of Montenegro good luck, we will always remain brothers, but it's better for Serbia to finally start looking after itself. It's very exciting to be part of this historical process. Greetings to everyone, from Belgrade, Serbia (finally)! BEOGRAD IS GORGEOUS ALWAYS WAS AND WILL BE! Vladimir Drobashevsky24-Feb-2006 15:19Dear Vlado,Thank you so much for the beautiful pix of Beograd.

I could almost cry from joy, seing thismagnificent city, where I grew up. For the most part I remember Terazije and certainly Kneza Milana and Michaila Streets, but there is something new to me - the Sv. Sava Cathedral. You are specifying, it is at Svetosavsky Trg, and looking from Terazije, I did notice the Church. Would this be the old 'Kraljev Dom and Park' and there is the church now?But then it would end up preko puta Skupstine on the other side?

As you can see, I am all mixed up.Anyway, I appreciate your beautiful photography and hope to hear from you soon.Kind regards,Vladimir.

BELI ZEMUN ( Niagara Falls Canada).

Brojim dane do povratka 2006.

U Bibliji lepo kaze 'What goes around, comes around' - svanuce i nama kad-tad. Hvala ti CARE i keep up the good work, sto bi rekli raspali ameri.

Hm, it looks like Vlada will be busy for the next 100 lifetimes to shoot all commissioned photos of all cities and all corners of Serbia! And who knows, maybe it won't be only Serbia! Me too - I have just thought to order some photos.:-) What can we do - this is not only photography, but painting on film emulsion!Thank you Vlado! Guest21-Sep-2005 16:45Zdravo Vlado!

Fotografije su Vam zaista fenomenalne!!! Nisam bio u Beogradu 14 godina, i Vase umetnicke fotografije Beograda me magicno prenose u moj grad. Pozdrav Branislav, SAD.Hi Vlado! Your photography is indeed phenomenal!!!

I have not been back to Belgrade for 14 years, and your artistic photography is magically transporting me into my city. Thank you for the effort to create this web site and this forum. I don't remember I've seen anything more representative about Belgrade than this, what you created for the glory of this eternal city! With best wishes, Branislav, USA. Guest10-Sep-2005 15:13Thank you for taking these pictures! It feels so good reading the positive comments about Serbia and Montenegro. Many people have a bad vision of our country and Serbs.Hearing bad opinions about Serbia in the medias, makes me feel sad and angry. Your pictures are like a medicament for the heart. The reaction of this medicament is always to be proud to come from Serbia. So go on, on your way!

Show our country by the most beautiful side!Kind regrets form Zurich, SwitzerlandAdrijanaP.S. I'm sorry for my bad English, I'm still learning it;).

Marko14-Jul-2005 21:56I went to Belgrade back in 2002. I was just looking for some pictures to see if I could recognize some places.

Slike

Its a pretty interesting city with some bombed out buildings and run down neighborhoods. There's a McDonalds in the center of the city near the train station, I thought that was pretty neat.

I heard a lot of Albanians are moving to Belgrade nowadays as they are harassed other places in Serbia. I wanna go back again some day, but right now being part of KFOR(USA) they make it a little difficult to cross the border. Well at least I get to see this part of the country, though I guess you can't really call Kosovo Serbia anymore.Anyways, greetings from MNBE.marko. Djini03-Apr-2005 00:20The picture gallery was wonderful! My husband and I visited Serbia last summer and your pictures brought back many pleasant memories of our trip.

I was especially pleased to find the picture of the restaurant '?' , as I had not taken a piture of it myself. The story behind the restaurant name is very funny. My husband was born in Nis and it was his first trip back to Serbia after 45 years.

As an American, I was impressed by the beauty of the country and the hospitality of its people. We are looking forward to returning to Serbia in 2006.

25-Jan-2005 14:18Thanks to all of you.Regarding your comments I'd like to emphasize that I am not a pro, just amateur.I am working im my office usually 9 hours daily, so I really have no enough of time to visit all places I'd like. Next point is regarding weather conditions, it is very important, so, as I am usually waiting weekend days for making photo, someone could imagine how often weather allows it.Usce (Sava an Danube Confluence) is one of the Symbols of Belgrad, but, the main reason for having so many photos of it, is the fact, that it is very easy to come there, so, even when I have 15-20 min only, I can go there.Once again thank you for comments, welcome to Belgrade.Best regards,Vlado.

Bas u tome i jeste lepota!

Gildas23-Oct-2004 15:12Hi Vlado,Congratulations on your gallery, Belgrade seems a wonderful city! I am a French guy living so far away from Europe now (Japan), unfortunately i haven't had a chance to go to Belgrade yet, but i really would like to since i'm interested in the culture there (especially music, serbian folk music ROCKS!!! Do u know the band Elektricni Orgazam?

Lido Belgrade

They're great.), and I'd like to meet and talk to some people down there someday to learn more about Serbia and Serbians. Anyway, pics are beautiful, see you there in the future maybe;-). Guest18-Sep-2004 03:18Cao Vlado! Puno pozdrava!!!!Nenad. Mediana Jones16-Sep-2004 18:09Evo mene opet.:-) Pogledao sam dobar deo galerija i dobar deo fotografija u njima. Evo krajnje dobronamernih komentara.Ima sjajnih motiva, veoma fotogenicnih, snimljenih u pravo doba dana.

Stare Slike Zemuna Gornja Varos D

Srecno snimanje ubuduce:-).

Milla20-Mar-2004 17:05Hello Vlado,Pozdrav iz Sarajeva! Beautiful gallery. I have no visited Beograd in many, many years.

The last time I was there I was a young girl, with my parents. I did not return since the war, for obvious reasons. I am wondering now how is it for Croat and Bosniac tourists? I am a secular Slavic Muslim, like most in Bosnia-Herzegovina; I do not wear a headscarf, I drink, I smoke - all the normal Balkan passtimes. I understand the situation of the past week with the riots in Kosova-Metohija and the church/mosque burnings around the country - we have similar tensions between Bosnia-Herzegovina proper and our Republika Srpska. But it is still quite safe for Serbian tourist in Sarajevo - most people do not hate Serbs, only nationlists - and we hate our own more than those from the other groups. I am just asking your opinion of whether or not it is safe for us to visit Beograd?

We would be a group of 6 - Neva (Muslim), Magdalena (Muslim), Ajsa (Muslim), Ljdia (Serb), Eveta (Jewish) and myself. I hope to hear from you and, again, beautiful photographs!
