Extend Volume Not Available

  1. Extend Volume Not Available Windows 10

Recently, I added two drives to the existing RAID 5 configuration on my Dell PowerEdge 2900 III that is running the PERC 6/i Integrated (embedded) controller. Originally there were three 300GB 15K RPM drives and now there are a total of 5.

How can the answer be improved? 'Extend Volume' option under Disk Management tool is only available when there is contiguous unallocated space behind the volume you want to extend.

With third party partitioning tool such as Paragon Partition Manager 11 Server (paid version runs both from Windows and Boot CD) or Parted Magic 5 (open source free version that works from boot CD only) you will be able to allocate this space to D: partition in few minutes.ParagonParted MagicIn any of the listed tools right click on Extended partition - move/resize - catch the right border and drag it to right. Apply changes. This will allocate space to Extended partition and make it next to D: partition. Then same right click on D: - move/resize - catch the end of partition and drag it to right. Apply changes. Done.Sure, take backup before you start partitioning. This is mandatory.
